Jo Davis Trench
Jo Davis Trench’s training in Constructed Textiles at the Royal College of Art, combined with her Printmaking studies at Wimbledon College and Camberwell School of Art inform her current body of work.
Both her etched prints and ‘scratchings’ represent conversation pieces, worked on and developed in sequences which respond to each other and create variations on a theme where the physical surface is always paramount.
Her works on gesso board, simply referred to as ‘scratchings’ are complex layers of texture which evolve with repeated working; colour relates to mists or veils of dispersed light. She works on several pieces simultaneously, exploring the same preoccupations with a juxtaposition of touches. She has exhibited widely in London and beyond. She teaches in London and also writes for the TLS.
